The Four Corners Computer Bulletin board System went online in 1985 after testing on several systems for several years. It remained the longest running BBS (a forerunner of the internet) in the area, as it continued until the late 1990s. Of course the internet won out for now, but the next generation will edge out the internet as we know it.
The Four Corners is the only spot in the United States where four states meet at one location. The states are, Arizona, Utah, Colorado, and New Mexico. The primary population includes several reservations (Navajo, Ute, Jicarilla, and others). Colorado cities include Cortez and Durango, New Mexico has Shiprock and Farmington. The climate is generally dry and seasonally cold or hot, the Sonoma Desert provides the dry winds and the northern mountains keeps it cool and wet. The Navajo Dam stabilizes the water supply and Durango keeps the folks like Paul and Angel from Philly, coming to check out the trains, gliders, skiing, horseback riding, rafting and many other events. Financial stability is provided by tourists, education and the massive coal and natural gas reserves.

There are only a few hundred thousand friendly folks in the region and we try to keep the soreheads cornered (only 6 of them ) in Aztec and they are allowed outside only on Wednesdays and Fridays. There has been a solid twenty year expansion and the Real Estate market has been very active. There is the token big city traffic jams twice daily (about two blocks long in front of the mall around 8am and 5pm, but they only last 23 minutes) . There are hundreds of local clubs like the treasure club meeting at the Civic Center or through the Schools like San Juan College There are unusual activities like the Aztec UFO crash get together. Some popular events include riverfest in Farmington and snowdown in Durango.
